Kids for Peace

At WAA Cameroon, we believe that peace is not just the absence of violence, but a positive state of harmony, respect and cooperation among people. That is why we created the Kids for Peace program, a unique initiative that aims to instill peaceful values in children from a young age.

The Kids for Peace program is based on the premise that children are the future of our society, and that by teaching them how to live peacefully with themselves and others, we can foster a culture of peace that will benefit everyone. Our program offers a holistic approach that covers various aspects of peace education, such as:

  • Self-awareness and emotional regulation: We help children to understand their own feelings and needs, and to express them in constructive ways. We also teach them how to cope with stress, anger and frustration, and to develop empathy and compassion for others.

  • Conflict resolution and mediation: We equip children with the skills and tools to resolve conflicts peacefully, without resorting to violence or aggression. We also train them to be mediators who can help others to find peaceful solutions to their problems.

  • Diversity and intercultural dialogue: We expose children to different cultures, religions and perspectives, and help them to appreciate the richness and beauty of diversity. We also encourage them to engage in dialogue and collaboration with people from different backgrounds and beliefs, and to respect their differences.

  • Social responsibility and civic engagement: We inspire children to take action for peace in their communities and beyond. We also teach them about their rights and responsibilities as citizens, and how they can participate in democratic processes and contribute to social change.

Our program consists of various activities and workshops that are fun, interactive and participatory. We use creative methods such as games, stories, songs, art, drama and sports to deliver our messages and lessons. We also involve parents, teachers and community leaders in our program, to ensure that the children receive consistent support and guidance from their environment.

The Kids for Peace program is open to all children aged 6 to 12 years old, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, religion or socio-economic status. We welcome children from different schools and communities, as we believe that diversity is a source of strength and learning.
