Women in Alternative Action (WAA) Cameroon is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation founded in 2004 with a vision to promote communities free from gender-based violence, stigmatization, discrimination, and exclusion of women, youth and girls in Cameroon and the Central African sub-region
End gun violence in our homes, on our streets and on the battlefield
Eliminating harmful socio-cultural practices including Child Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) against women and girls
Eliminating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) as well as women, girls and youth vulnerabilities
Promoting and protecting the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of women and girls
Proving psycho-social support to survivors of GBV
Promoting social cohesion and community engagements
Localising the UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security
Localising the UNSCR 2250 on Youth Peace and Security
Localising SDG16+ on Peace, Justice and Inclusive Societies
Promoting Peace Education and Conflict Prevention
Engaging the Queens for Peace in community peace-building
Conduct research on G-BV, Peacebulding, Conflict Prevention /Resolution, Small Arms and Light Weapons (SAL)

Strengthening youth's leadership skills to participate in decision making
Engaging youths in capacity development and technical training for sustainable development

Reviewed and proposed draft discriminatory laws against women and girls to government and parliament for adoption in 2008
Reviewed and proposed draft law on SAL to government and parliament for adoption in 2009
Proposed a draft law on Child Marriage to government and parliament for adoption in 2019
Providing entrepreneurial leadership learning and livelihood development
Empowering women, girls and female IDPs to become financially autonomous
Providing youths with alternatives to gun violence through income generation activities

This project seeks to increase and support the capacity of the Queens for Peace International networks to advocate for change in attitudes towards violence against women (VAW), harmful practices, discrimination and marginalisation.
We are able to do what we do thanks to our friends and the partnerships we have with great organisations in and out of Cameroon
